Circuit comparisons
Below are two circuits.
One is made from a 1.5V battery and a very thin length copper wire.
The other is made from an identical 1.5V battery, and a copper wire that is the same length, but somewhat thicker.
Compare the currents at the two locations (indicated by an X).
Note, each X is at the midpoint of the wire.
Explain your comparison using physics principles.
For the circuit above, compare the potential difference across the thin wire to the potential difference across the thick wire.
Explain your comparison.
Below is a single circuit, made using a 1.5V battery, and an interesting wire.
The wire starts out thick, then becomes narrow, then becomes thick again.
Compare the currents at the 3 indicated locations (a, b, c) in the circuit.
Explain your comparisons using physics principles.
In the circuit above, each thick section of wire and the thin section all have equal lengths.
Compare the potential difference across one of the thick sections of wire to the potential difference across the thin section of wire.
